Your donation will benefit others, by bringing needed services to at least one child, one adult, or one family. These services may include school-based counseling, community education (such as parenting classes), crisis intervention, supported employment, mental health counseling, psychiatric evaluation, and necessary medication.
Upper Bay Counseling & Support Services, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, donations to which are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.

Volunteer
You can make a difference by volunteering your services at Upper Bay Counseling & Support Services.
Our volunteers are caring, hardworking people who want to make a difference in the lives of individuals who are mentally/behaviorally challenged and/or their families. Whether you choose a clerical position behind the scenes or a more hands-on role with clinical support, your participation is vital to the success of Upper Bay Counseling. Each contribution brings us closer to helping individuals, strengthening families, and uniting communities by providing a broad and expanding range of high-quality behavioral health and community services.

Advocate
An Open Letter from the CEO of Upper Bay Counseling:
We need more concerned individuals to speak up for the Mental Health System of Care. Every year, there are policy issues that come up in the legislature or in state government that involve everyone who is in need of mental health services. Yet, few mental health clients or their families learn about these issues, and even fewer contact the government officials to tell these officials what they think about possible policy changes.
Our government officials do listen, however. They listen to staff who work at mental health facilities and who express their opinions. But they listen much more carefully and are more likely to be supportive when mental health clients and their family members speak up.
What You Can Do:
You can help us to improve the way mental health care is provided. Our government officials are redesigning the health care system right now. Smart, dedicated people are working in Annapolis, Baltimore, Washington D.C., and across the country to make our health care system better. They will be writing policies and developing budgets that will affect how providers (like doctors and therapists here at UBCSS) will offer services to you, the clients, family members, and friends, people who are directly impacted by these government decisions.
Better yet, most government officials want to hear from you. They want to know what you think is good and also not-so-good about how mental health services work. So we must speak up. We need to let our government officials know how to make our system of care the best in the world. We must become our own advocates for our system of care.
How to Do It:
It is easy to do. You can become an advocate. All it takes is a simple email, or phone call, or letter to a key elected official or government policy writer, and your voice is heard.
There are two parts to this that I can help with: I can help to keep you informed about what policies and issues are being decided by our government officials, and I can help you identify who are the key people to talk to. Typically we will need to contact our state delegates and senators, or our United States congressmen and senators. You can check back on this bulletin board for key Advocacy information and updates.
